Employees from Nuneaton based shower manufacturer, Triton Showers, have been dusting off their trainers and getting in shape, as they train for Nuneaton’s 5km Fun Run on Sunday 22^nd May 2011, to help raise money for the Mary Ann Evans Hospice in the town.

This Fun Run has been organised by the newly formed Nuneaton Town Community Foundation and is sponsored by Triton, who has been supporting the Foundation’s plans since its launch late last year. All of the money raised on the day will be going directly to fund the good work carried out by the Hospice, which celebrates its 20^th Year Anniversary this year.

Tina Simpson, marketing director at Triton Showers said:

“Triton is delighted to be sponsoring this event and helping raise much welcomed funding. The Hospice does such valuable work for so many in the area and this money will make a real difference in maintaining this. The Foundation has already got some amazing projects underway from allotments through to a children’s gym, showing how leading a healthier lifestyle can be easy and fun and this Fun Run is a great example of how we can all get involved, get fit and enjoy ourselves at the same time. “

Emma Garner-Jones, one of the fun runners taking part from Triton, added:

“Getting ready for the run is proving enjoyable for everyone involved. I think we all feel that we are not only getting in better shape but we know we are raising money for a worthwhile cause and giving something back to the area at the same time.“

Registration for the 5km Fun Run starts at 9am at the new ‘Louis’ play area, Riversley Park, Nuneaton on Sunday 22^nd May and the run kicks off at 10am. For those with little ones, a ‘Toddler Trot’ around Riversley Park starts at 9.30am. Anyone can take part but children under 11 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age. Entry costs just £1 for children and £4 for adults if you register in advance. You can also join in on the day at the cost of £2 per child and £5 per adult.

Triton will also be giving every child who takes part a pump bag to remember the day.

Steve Farmer, from the Nuneaton Town Community Foundation and who has been behind the organisation of the run, said:

“It is great to get this Fun Run underway and we are delighted that Triton has been able to offer its support. We have planned the run to be open to all and to be as much fun as possible, and we really hope people will come together, get involved and have fun getting fit in the process. It is fantastic to see employees from Triton get the ball rolling.

“This really is a run for everyone too. Those who enjoy their running can certainly push themselves and aim for their best time around the track, but it would be great to see families having a go. Fancy dress, just making it a fun family walk or even taking your dog along for a bit of fresh air, can make the event a real success, so we hope people will dig out their trainers and join us on 22^nd May.”

The 5km Fun Run will start from Riversley Park, work its way around the town centre before ending up back at the Park.
